A chat widget that looks like your site

One script tag, then every colour is yours. No theme to fork and no stylesheet to fight.

The Writine widget open on a page, showing a visitor question answered by a member, with the composer below.

Customization

Every part of it is yours

Settings, then Widget. Changes save as you make them and reach visitors on their next page load.

Colours

The header, the panel, both message bubbles and their text. Leave any of them unset and it follows the theme.

Your own mark

Upload an SVG, PNG or JPEG for the closed launcher bubble. Each website in a workspace can carry its own.

Light, dark or automatic

Dark recolours whatever you left on default, so the colours you chose survive the switch.

Install

One tag, before the closing body

Your real site id is in Settings, then Websites, with the snippet already filled in.

<script
  src="https://app.writine.com/widget.js"
  data-site="site_YOUR_SITE_ID"
></script>

Behaviour

What it does without being asked

The defaults are the careful ones, so there is nothing to lock down after you install it.

Sandboxed

The widget runs in its own frame. It cannot read your page, and your page cannot read it.

Origin locked

It answers only on the origins you list, so the snippet does nothing if it is copied elsewhere.

No visitor sign up

Nobody is asked to make an account or hand over an email before they can ask a question.

Survives navigation

In a single page app the conversation stays open as the route changes, rather than resetting under the visitor.
