Cookies

Writine sets the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to hold a visitor's conversation. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
In the dashboard
- A session cookie keeps you signed in. It is HttpOnly, so JavaScript cannot read it, and it is sent only to Writine.
- A timezone value lets the dashboard render dates in your own timezone on the first load rather than shifting after the page appears.
- A sidebar preference remembers whether you collapsed the navigation.
In the widget on your site
The widget stores a credential for the visitor's own conversation in their browser. Without it, a returning visitor would lose their history and have to start again.
It identifies one conversation and nothing else. It does not follow a visitor across other websites, and it is not shared with anyone.
What we do not do
No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no selling of data, and no analytics that follow a person around the web.
Turning them off
Your browser can block or clear cookies at any time. Blocking the session cookie signs you out of the dashboard, and blocking the widget credential means a visitor starts a fresh conversation on every visit. Nothing else breaks.
